Backsprings

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Backsprings

Post by Caseman601225 »

Another canoe question: I own three. All are 70s knives and all have a single backsprings. I've seen newer ones with two backsprings. I'm sure this is easier to make but it thickens things up. When did this start?

Ask Charlie (Sasquach). He's the canoe guy on the forum.

The first year for the two-spring canoe was 1985 - that was the "transition" year - you will find both the older single spring version and the new two spring version made that year. All made 1986 to present are the new two-spring style.
