Little Help Identifying

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Little Help Identifying

Post by Trader »

Picked this one up in a lot buy. I'm pretty sure it is a stag handle. Only markings are first line tang "CASE" and the second line tang "XX", both on the clip blade. No other markings on blade tangs. OAL closed is 3 7/8". Pretty sure from 1940-1964. Can't determine the model number. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Trader,
I would guess it is a 92 pattern, a large stockman. The book says it's 4" closed length, I happen to have a 6592 layin' on my desk and it is shy of 4" could be read as 3 7/8". ::shrug::
Your knife does appear to be a well worn stag handle so it should be a 5392.
By the way, ::welcome:: to AAPK!

I would agree with treefarmer. Age 1940-64 but probably early in the period if does not have a pattern number.
