Case XX 154CM Steel

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Case XX 154CM Steel

Post by XX Case XX »

I'm wondering how often Case makes "Standard Production Knives" using 154CM Steel. I don't see this very often so if anyone has a general idea please weigh in. I have sent this very question to WR Case & Sons, but while waiting for an answer, I'd like to hear what some you fellas think. I know a lot of you guys have been collecting for 40-60 years so it would be nice to tap into some of that knowledge. All comers are Welcome... ::nod::

Premium steel, usually used on the Bose collabs along with ats-34.

Occasionally u will see it on others, short runs. I'd consider anything with it as rare

CollectorKnives.net has some SFO 154 Large Trappers. They may still have some left. I wish they would make all the Select line in 154.

Aside from the 154cm Bose collaboration knives, regular production backpocket and trapper... and some of the desk knives, here are a few other examples.

2007
Trapper 6254 154CM
Folding Hunter 6265 154CM
Stockman 6347 154CM
Mini Trapper 6207 154CM
Barlow 62009 1/2 154CM
Medium Stockman 63032 154CM
Small Texas Toothpick 610096 154CM

Those were part of the "exotic steel" line. They also used ATS-34

2005
Large Gunstock 62130 ATS-34
Yukon TB612001 ATS-34
Trapper 6254 ATS-34
CopperLock 61549L ATS-34
Muskrat ATS-34

Case has also used BG-42 on their slimlock. It's very good steel and I'd love to see it on other knives... especially the sowbelly.

Compared to the volume of knives that Case puts out annually, I'd say that's a very small amount. Thank you very much for this information. It is most appreciated. :)
