Stagmania

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Don't worry about it. You can post those beauties at least once a month! :lol:

I did end up selling the clasp, and picking up another 88.. May be a long pull :)

I’d trade a regular pull mint xx 5375 for some mint xx Greenbone if anyone has duplicates.. patterns? Hmm prefer larger patterns.

Ken, that is a beautiful Case XX USA 5172 3rd model Bulldog. All of the 1960's era 5172's had nice stag, but it seems like the 3rd model had the best of best. ::tu:: ::tu:: The box looks like it is really nice condition too.

Thanks Jerry. I bought it new about 50 years ago - they were becoming real popular with collectors about that time. The wooden box is near mint and has been stored in the original cardboard sleeve. I have the glassine paper the knife was wrapped in too. ::tu::

That is really special Ken! That's one that has eluded me thus far. Perhaps soon. ::pray:: A spectacular example you have. ::tu::

Here is a set from 1980 (I think) that has super stag and scrolled bolsters. My pictures stink, but here they are:

Thanks Gary. ::super_happy::

It was made by Queen in 1981 and the quality is top notch. The stag is even better looking in hand than in the pic. Looks like it was never carried or used. Needed a little cleaning and a coat of Ren-wax.

Thank you gentlemen, much appreciated. It is a well made knife and I have been enjoying carrying it. The axe is another fine american made product, Council in 5160.
