Biggest nail nick on CASE Swing Guard I have ever seen

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Biggest nail nick on CASE Swing Guard I have ever seen

Post by zp4ja »

Or for that matter, likely the most cavernous nail nick I have seen on a CASE knife period. Modified? Don't know. Does not look like it. Tried to grab a pic for posterity to post here but I was unable.

I saw that one Jerry. Looks like its been buffed pretty hard. You don't suppose he let the dremel tool run too many rounds in the nail nick do you?

My guess is it came from the factory like that as far as the nick is concerned. Two choices if that huge nick WAS done at the factory...

1. Blade goes in trash
2. Blade installed on knife and sold.

Knowing the little I know of CASE, option 2 all the way.

As a side note, I have only personally seen one fake CASE Swing Guard. From one of our favorite junk peddlers and shameless knows what he is doing rip offs. After all, a self proclaimed past NKCA (or whatever he is stating) President should know knives, right?
