Case & Case related knives over 100 years old

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

After Harvey Platts went to partner with Russ Case, W R Case & Sons in 1905 a few knives were produced for PLATTS BROS ELDRED by the brothers that were left before the move to Androver, NY, I believe they were all contract knives as Harvey took all of the equipment with him to Bradford.
This is the only one of these knives I have seen with this stamp. I believe it was produced by CASE BROS and would welcome opinions of others as well.

Thanks for looking ::tu::

Roger,
Do you believe my sunfish was made by Napanoch.? I thought the bone looked like the jigging that a lot of the Case Brothers Knives have.

It's too long for a Case Brothers. 50 pattern is slightly less than 4".Napanoch's were 4 1/4" and they had a worm groove bone also.They did a lot of contract work for many including W R Case in their early days. ::tu::

I purchased this Tested era lady leg with a broken blade. I was also concerned the handles would gas on me. I contacted Case and they hooked me up with a Bradford era blade and new goldstone handles.

The knife looks great. Very interested that Case would hook you up with a Bradford Era blade on such an old knife. Did Case do the work as well?
Could you post a closeup of the tang stamp on the newly installed blade?

Thanks for posting it.

Looks like the original master was a Tested era blade, replaced with one stamped Case over Bradford PA. Possibly a blade for a more recent Case Select series, or similar Case Family Brands release. ::shrug:: Blades on these had some more recent date code marks. Would be interesting to see what's under the bolster and on the pile side of the blade.

The new goldstone material is acrylic.

Ken

Edit: I may be confusing this with the ones Case did a few years ago stamped "Bradford Cutlery". But those had an arched stamp IIRC. I do seem to remember a recent "Case Bradford" release though. I can't keep up with all the new stuff! ::facepalm::

Here's a better look at the tang for ya. Main and secondary have the same numbers on the back sides. These are true Bradford blades, not new condition. The handles had some damage which is why Case agreed to help me out.
