Do YOU have a CASE XX knife in YOUR pocket today?????

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

A Case 6254 Trapper. This is a great 'lill workhorse that I am not afraid to beat up... as it is already a bit beat up. Great walk 'n talk and very solid. A very good size for most of my everyday chores.

Case Copperlock . Had a friend who makes custom knifes make a easy opener out of it for me. Been carry this for years and open 20 bags or more a week of cattle feed and it always holds a edge good and just touch it up about once a week. Would like to carry one of my older case knives but just can’t do it.Some if you guys carry some beautiful knives but I like to keep mine in my knife rolls.

Been totin' this Case 63046 Humpback Stockman for the last few weeks. It took me a couple years to work up the nerve to carry it but I'm glad I did. No regrets.

My 40-64 Stockman I don't tote it very often, it's hopefully going to be my "retirement carry" if I make it that far.

Thanks cudgee.

The 63046 is an interesting pattern. Case uses Phosphor Bronze bushings in the pivots on this model. That combined with no half stops makes for a buttery smooth walk and talk.

It's also refreshing to carry a "stockman" pattern with a Spear blade for a change.

Very interesting, i have a large stockman with no half stops, and you're right, smooth as butter. The 63046, are these rare, i have not seen one before.

No. They are not rare. It's an old pattern and Case re-introduced them in 2009. The one I posted above has the 2008 tang stamp because it was a test run before regular production began in 2009. I'm not entirely sure but I think the 63046 is discontinued. Just not sure when it happened.

There were a lot of them made. For example, there are a few "Limited Edition" 63046 models with run quantities of 3,000. That implies that the regular runs were much higher. Although discontinued, there are a myriad of handle options still available.

I think I've owned 4 of these over the years but I only still own two. Here's my other one with "Gum Fuddy" handles from 2010.

And you won't lose it with that color! I've been meaning to pick up a 4165 Foldin Hunter with a combo edge blade and smooth orange synthetic scales for the same reason. A Trapper, however, is a bit more pocketable. I have an old '65-69 6265, and every time I carry it, I have to use a sheath on the belt.

I have a "Vintage" (really it is just VERY well used) Case 6265 and I love it, but as you said, every time I carry it, I have to use a sheath on the belt. So I am very found of the Case 6254 Trapper. I have a leather pouch I can slide it into and then right into the front pocket. Case must have made an enormous number of the 6254 Trappers. I see them all the time at collector shows and flea markets. I'm not sure how many I have... ::paranoid:: ... ::hmm::
And still making them.....

2018 10254 Trapper in Earth Brown G10, and a partially serrated clip blade. I like having serrations on a work knife. I'd purchased the 75 Stockman from this series and the 54 Trapper. I'd given my Granddad the Trapper. I just didn't like the ergonomics of the Stockman, so I traded for the Trapper, which is much better in-hand. These knives are both highly polished, and are actually sharp from the factory. Typically, I have to resharpen every Tru-Sharp knife I get.

Today, I think I will pick up a CV Sodbuster at Tractor Supply. I got a busted one in a lot, and I don't think Case will repair a 1974 Sodbuster with half the backspring gone.
