61048 SP

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Thank you.

Earlier in this thread I mentioned I had a 61048 coming to me in the mail.
It has long since arrived.

Here's what was born as a 62048 10 dot from 1970. It has since converted into a giraffe bone with Mother of Pearl spacers and filework.

Mine isn't near as pretty as the high grade ones y'all are showing, but it is unique! I bought this off of eBay, complete except for handles. it had never been sharpened and the guy said it was a dead mint 31048 that had out gassed and he pulled the handles. There was some minor pitting, but not bad. I sent it to Dale along with a stick of pretty walnut from dad's wood pile and told Dale to do whatever he wanted to with it. This is the result!

The swell at the end isn't what you'd typically see, but it surely does feel good in your hand. And Dale's stamp makes it even more special.

Those new covers turned that knife into a very high grade 48 I think. ::tu::
Thanks for showing that one, Wade.

That really is a uniquely styled pocketknife - very nice, slim lines. Not a big Spey blade fan, but it just looks right on that handle. OH
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Great save and meaningful knife Wade. Nothing like having something of Dad on a carry. Best I can say it.

Thanks Jerry. I also had a couple of knives done in some Hickory from my Pa’s old smokehouse. It was some split wood that he’d put in there for the next year’s hog killin’ that never happened. One was an old Areal coke bottle and the other a used 10 dot loomfixer I’d picked up with no handles. Good memories.
