It's actually more like an 08 pattern with a more prominent hump on the bottom side. It's longer than an 08 pattern at 3 5/8" closed. By the way, it's a W.R. Case & Sons marked on two blades with the pattern number B396 stamped on the third blade. The handles are waterfall celluloid.

Msteele that is a rare one to be sure!
I saw this thread pop up yesterday and have been going back through it over and over checking out these beautiful old knives. I noticed it's been quite a while since I posted anything here so when I got home this evening I started looking through my old Cases and realized man that is half the fun of this hobby we love so. Ogling and coon fingering these beautiful knives we own. Well after I went through all of them I think these four are probably my most rare and beautiful of the bunch.
First is a tested era 84062K.

Second is a W.R. Case and Sons 8151L

Third is a W. R. Case and Sons 6393P with winter bottom handles

and forth is a Case Brothers Little Valley 6293J

Love that 6393 with the winterbottom handles. Here are a few more that aren't too common a 6370F, a 6222, a 6226 1/2 (big peanut) and a 6366 all Case Tested:

Greg, nice group of rare old Case knives. My favorite is the Case Bros Little Valley 6293J LP. I believe it is pictured in Sargent's 7th edition on page 58 in the bottom right hand corner.

Here are pictures of a Case XX 6394 1/2 LP green bone. An earlier post in the thread mentioned this pattern but there was no picture.

Thanks Jerry! That is indeed the knife that is pictured in Sargents 7th edition.
Your 6394 1/2 is spectacular. Still on my wishlist

msteele6 wrote:This is my rarest Case knife, it's a B396, I've only seen one other, no pictures in any guide I've seen, the only mention I've seen is in an early Sargent's where the pattern number is shown, no picture, the action on this knife is the best of any knife I own, perfectly solid and not too hard. The knife on top is a 2346 and the one below is a 4226 (big peanut):
Nice knives, the waterfall has held up really well, for a 100 year old knife.

Hey Mark,

After my prior reply, I was browsing this thread and realized you posted a TESTED 6366. Missed that on first pass of your thread contribution. Beautiful bone on that one. That is a rare bird indeed based on my observations of that model or lack thereof.

That is the only one I have ever seen other than the TESTED example I have. Mine has the more observed TESTED Era Green Bone without the shield. Yours has the "uncommon TESTED Green Bone" in my opinion. Had a mint TESTED 6299 with that same color. Beautiful in my opinion. Went down the road to my friend now. Located here about half way down page 1...

Again, great knives my friend.

Wayne that’s a stunning collection of older Case’s. ::tu:: ::tu:: I agree it is hard to pick a favorite but that stag 5392 would have to be my pick of the litter. ::drool::
