Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

When the volcano blows, no use running. Won't save ya. And the volcano blew these clear across the Pacific from Hawaii to Washington's western shores. Beauties for sure, can't believe the waves and stripes of color in the green wood on the TDrop. And can believe, but still always love a good green bone on the Mini Trapper. Absolute beauties to me. And even better because they used to be Q's. So not only great knives, but some nostalgia and affection and brotherhood above and beyond just great knives. Thanks Q. Loving all over them already. Mmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnn.

Picked this one up a couple days ago. I’m not a Case collector but usually collect older knives. Really do like this one!! Tested XX. Thanks for looking and any thoughts or comments.

Cudgee it’s 1920-1940 date range. It was really out of my wheelhouse but you know how that goes when you see a knife you really like. Thanks for asking.

Wow, that's a fine one!
What is the pattern number of your Case whittler? Is this one called a split spring whittler?
Love seeing older knives, especially Case knives that we don't see everyday. ::nod::

Thanks Phil, it doesn’t have a pattern number on the blade but I believe it’s considered a 5308 split spring. Thanks again.

Thanks, Bill. I now see it in the the book. One of the price guides show there were 7 different handle offerings for the 08 pattern in the 1920-1940 time period. ::hmm:: You've got a lot of collecting to do! ::poke::
Congratulations!

Thanks Phil, I don’t have any books just for Case knives. I don’t collect any particular maker, but I really like the older Case but usually out of my price range? If you get time to check what would be a fair value of the whittler in the book you have if you have the time? Thanks again Phil ::handshake::

Still trying to complete my 6207 1970s decade collection. This 5-dot 1975 fills in one of the few remaining slots (I still need a '76 & '77 to complete the set). Would have preferred Red Bone, but this Brown Bone will have to do for now. Hopefully, I'll eventually get a Red Bone example from each year in the 1970s decade...that's my ultimate goal. If nothing else, this little exercise is teaching The Monkey to develop a bit pf patience--definitely NOT one of his natural virtues. ::mdm::

Q, I love all of your 07s but this might be my favorite. I am addicted to 70s brown jigged delrin and have an example in several patterns but not an 07....yet....

Love it ...thanks for sharing this one as well as the rest of your awesome collection .

The blades have some color & spots but it still makes a nice EDC to add to my rotation. ::tu:: :D
