Let's see your Clasp 72's!!

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

I'll bet there are some beautiful 72 series knives in your collections. Post a pic or two when you get a chance. Here's a few of mine.
The XX 40-64, the XX stainless 65-69, The Razors edge 1976 and the Blue Scroll 1977. Excuse some of the pictures. All the lines or marks on the blades are reflections, trust me ::sneaky::
Check them out,

Tested era green bone.

A 5172 from 1976. I really like this one because of the fat stag.

Those are some nice 72's that have been posted here. The Tested era green bone is quite a looker, it looks like it's never seen a stone or a polishing wheel. It really is a gorgeous example. Here is a Buffalo that was created for the 150th anniversary of the American Blade Collectors Association. This knife is pictured in "Case The First 100 Years" on page 108.

The green bone has been sharpened a few times--definitely never seen a polishing wheel though.

Thought I would bump this thread. The Case 72 clasp pattern is a favorite of mine and I have looked through this thread multiple times at the nice examples posted. Here are a few Tested XX 6172's. My belief is that the knife in the first picture is an unpolished example that has the original blade finish combined with 75+ years of patina. Although his 3 brothers are polished they don't seem to show any sharpening or blade loss. I don't see a lot of these knives and when I do they are usually in decent shape. Maybe they were too big to carry and use.

The men that made these knives did not need ISO 9000, Lean Six Sigma, or any of the other Quality Assurance frameworks used today to "instill quality" because they had something even better - pride in their work.

Thanks for looking and I wish everyone an enjoyable Memorial Day with family and friends to celebrate the liberties provided by those who have sacrificed.

Absolutely beautiful knives y'all. ::tu:: Jerry those are excellent examples of Rogers bone - should post those in the Rogers bone thread that Phil started a couple weeks ago.

Ralph - thank you for reviving this thread! This is one of the topics I never looked at before this week. Great knives posted by all. Every one seems to have very nice bone or stag.

Nice etches too. That 150th anniversary knife that TheClasp posted back in 2012 certainly has one of the best etches that I have seen!
