Can anyone tell me anything about this knife?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Post by bigjoehall »

Helllo, I would appreciate any help or knowledge about this knife. I think its really old. Its been in my possesion for about 25 years. i have been told this could be made before the 1900's Can anyone help me find out anything about this knife? age, name, value.....? Thanks
Single blade folding knife

The blade says "TESTED XX" on the blade. the text is indented into the blade.

Near the handle the blade says "Case Bros" in a simi circle then below that written is "cut" below that "co"

when folded handle is exactly 2.5 inches

with blade out its about 4.75 in

i will attach pics but i couldnt get very good photos.

Hi Joe ::welcome:: to AAPK.

I am a lost ball in high weeds when it comes to those old vintage Case and Case related knives, but we do have some members here who are very "sharp" when it comes to Case knives. It may take a while for you to get a response from any of them as some work and others are in later time zones and may not even be awake just yet.
I suggest you make yourself right at home and take a look around at some of the other threads, then check back here from time to time to see what responses you receive.
Once again, welcome aboard.

Greetings Joe. Can't help you with the knife but be patient someone will be along shortly who can tell you all about it. When you said NKY, were you meaning Northern Kentucky?

Welcome bigjoe!! My knowledge of Case knives is fairly limited, but I'm fairly certain that your knife is the real deal. What a beaut! Under that stamp you're likely looking at 1900 to 1912, maybe 1915. It's in Sargent's, 6th edition on page 44, listed as model 71006 shadow pattern, tortoise handles. Judging by the pictures your blade's still quite full.

He valued a mint example at $350 in 2004, but these catalog valuations often don't reflect the real world. I think I'll leave it to the resident Case pros to tackle that one.
