way to more pin point the year of a XX ?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Not really :? If you know that one had a FFO stamp for one year and not another you could but pretty hard to nail it down,

Well you can pin point on some patterns

-discontinued on X year
-handle material discontinued

Greenbone, rough black, Rogers were all discontinued by 1960 (look further for exact year)
-shield.. if it has a USA style shield it would like be late 1960’s
If it has a tested shield it’s likely early 1940’s

-pulls (longpulls were often early xx era)

Straight XX with no pattern # would normally narrow it down to the 1940’s.

When the knife your grandfather/father carried or put up is handed down to you...treasure it...open it up from time to time...and by all means, keep it!
