Oval shield display

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Oval shield display

Post by Oldredbone67 »

From 1987-1989 , Case used the raised oval shield on some knives. I set out to collect as many different patterns as I could find with that shield. I collected 19 different patterns. Most of theses knives are 1987. No two patterns alike. Some very interesting patterns too. I will now get a nice frame to put them out for display. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did collecting them.

That is one of the better shields Case has used.

Good luck with the display and mounting. Let us see a pic when
it is all done. :D

Very, very, nice! I really like that shield also. One of the nicest looking shields that Case has used. I think it will be a great display.

Thanks, glad you like it. It was fun searching for the different patterns. I was surprised to come up with 19 different ones .I am sure there are a few more. I discovered the Moose down to the peanut and alot in between. The most unique being the red 63052, whittler on a Congress frame.

I remember when you started this collection - you have moved fast! Really nice subset of Case Knives - I too wait to see the final display picture. OH

I guess I got lucky, every time I saw one I didn't have I picked it up and now there are 19 different patterns with that oval raised shield. Now it's off to Hobby Lobby and do some shopping. Probably after the holidays.

LOL... can't blame you for that..... I avoid stores this time of year like the plague....

Do you get some sort of display case from Michael's or something?
