Artistic Schrade Pics

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Yup. That's about as close as you can get to it. Every time I see it I try to get a knife pic with that background but my phone can't get them both in focus at the same time.

That's gorgeous. Waiting on a Kizer Gunhammer that I think is in polished titanium that I got a steal of a deal on. That CS watch is the bee's knees. ::tu:: ::tu::

My scanner-based pics might not always reach the "artistic" benchmark but these two MOP knives and the matching ivory plaque definitely qualify thanks to the fine scrimshaw work by Bill Feeney. Each knife is unique. I think the bolster engraving may be uniquely hand-done as well. When I research other examples online I have not found two that have the same engraving.

These two knives were gifted to me by a fellow Schrade collector, aapk member and friend. It was the kindest and biggest surprise I've had in a long while. Something tells me he might also get a surprise in the mail tomorrow  . "One good turn deserves another."

Thanks. I have three more. The release of the 12uh, the survival knife and the re release of the 172uh and 171uh. They were sent with slides and black and white still photos. How times have changed. I put D’s here because he is a true artisan.

Very cool. Slides? ::facepalm:: PowerPoint kinda put an end to them and overhead projectors. Those were the days.

I'm sure Larry V would love to get his hands on copies of all four press kits to post on https://collectors-of-schrades-r.us/. A gift of ephemera to Librarian Larry just keeps on giving back to countless Schrade collectors. Just a thought...

Great knife John. Always wanted one. Like that yours has the etch still.
I’ve posted this once before but think it belongs here. I’ve been enjoying this thread and really happy Jason started it.
This is a knife that belonged to Uncle Henry. The art work on it is fantastic.
