Artistic Schrade Pics

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Sorry, I don't have that handy to check right now. As to the bone, I'd need to perfect my dyeing and jigging to copy that one

Is that a re-handle, Jason? It is quite beautiful.

Thanks, all, for the comments.

Cal it is not a re-handle. I found it a few years ago on ebay and it didn't look anything like that. It was missing the shield, covered in dirt and had a bunch of rust and pitting. The seller had it listed for $25 if I remember right. As soon as it arrived I shipped it off to Eric and he turned that pile of junk into the knife you see above! It's all original (except the shield).

It is more apt to describe me as autistic rather than artistic :D . Here is a well-cared for Paratrooper knife marked Schrade Cut. Co. Walden, N.Y.

Thanks to all who have shared their creativity and fantastic knives.

Really nice oldie!

Gorgeous models bathing buck-naked is always a good fine-art subject. Picasso knew this truth. So do I.

I think the Buck Naked is likely their most talked about model and it never even went into production. Yeah, the 110 is pretty popular butt....

Nice collection of the blues, Jason. That hunter has been one of my grail knives for 13 years. I guess I will never find one.

I wouldn't mind finding one of those myself ::tu:: - These aren't anniversary knives. Herman made the set and serialized them all 0048 - his salesman number.

Yup. That's about as close as you can get to it. Every time I see it I try to get a knife pic with that background but my phone can't get them both in focus at the same time.

That's gorgeous. Waiting on a Kizer Gunhammer that I think is in polished titanium that I got a steal of a deal on. That CS watch is the bee's knees. ::tu:: ::tu::

My scanner-based pics might not always reach the "artistic" benchmark but these two MOP knives and the matching ivory plaque definitely qualify thanks to the fine scrimshaw work by Bill Feeney. Each knife is unique. I think the bolster engraving may be uniquely hand-done as well. When I research other examples online I have not found two that have the same engraving.

These two knives were gifted to me by a fellow Schrade collector, aapk member and friend. It was the kindest and biggest surprise I've had in a long while. Something tells me he might also get a surprise in the mail tomorrow  . "One good turn deserves another."
