Cliphanger Question

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Cliphanger Question

Post by cody6268 »

I've been wanting the larger CH-7 Cliphanger for quite some time, and now I've (hopefully) got a CH-7 on the way for next to nothing. Except for one problem, it's missing the lanyard that clips into the handle. I have a CH-3 with a complete lanyard (carabiner, webbing, and quick release clip), and a spare clip that came with the knife; but the CH-3 is too small for some things; but the quick release lanyard sure is handy to keep from losing it. I think the CH-3 clip is actually smaller than the CH-7's; correct?

And seeing as there are no large size lanyards (just for the CH-3) to be found, I am wondering if I can just use the clip. Our Research section says "permanently mounted" on the similar frame models (Sportmates). But these are actually steel, not Zytel as the ad in the Research section says. Not only that, they look removable, and have the same clip as the ends of the lanyard to fit into the handle.
