Some great ones you have in there Cal. Good photos too. The 8874 looks minty, I like that'n. The 8924 looks like a dandy as well.

Fantastic collection of cells Cal. The standout for me is that birdseye floral knife in box H - wow!

Re: Schrades are better in groups
What a great collection Cal!...
...so I noticed in Box B the Cut Co fruit / melon / meat tester knife with the black handles... obtained a couple of those recently...
is the solid black handles with the 'raised" jigging really celluloid or some other different kind of plastic composition?
it was a tough choice... but box C is my favorite...

Thanks for the kind words, all; I have always assumed that the black sampler knife was handled in celluloid. I have a heavily worn CutCo muskrat that used to be the Hawbaker type, handled in the black jigged material also. There again, I have assumed celluloid.

How many of these Jack Knife Ben knives do you think were made by SCHRADE?

As a Schrade collector, I see a few that are unfamiliar to me, but a lot of them could be Schrades. There is a stockman there that is definitely a Schrade. What a nice batch!

What Calvin said.
The big coke bottle hunter was never a schrade made pattern to my knowledge. I suppose their switchblades filled that role in their product lineup.

Re: Schrades are better in groups
I think I’ve posted this somewhere before but this is a good place to put it. All the patterns are correct. The knives all have a connection to Herman Williams in one way or another. All but three have custom jigged bone by Herman. The other three were from Herman’s collection and used in Jim Seargent’s book. They were then put into the Factory “Wall collection”. I purchased them from a collector who acquired some of the knives from that collection. I still have all the knives but have since gifted the display case to a friend. The case is not all that rare, they do come around once and awhile but not often do they have the tape with the pattern numbers. It was a challenge to put this one together. Best part was corresponding with Herman.

Awesome display. One of these days I will start doing that, but for now they all stay in their rolls.

Thanks Paul. Someday maybe I’ll have a knife room to drag everything out into the light of day.

That would sure be nice. It is frustrating to pack them away out of sight, which I must do. In fact most of mine aren't even at the home place here, but in a safe in an industrial building close by with a big security system. I would love to just have them in a special room and not worry.JAMESC41001 wrote:Thanks Paul. Someday maybe I’ll have a knife room to drag everything out into the light of day.

A display "safe room" would be great. The more knives I get the more I feel like I should get some insurance for them.tongueriver wrote:That would sure be nice. Mine are in my office just waiting for me to come in and start admiring them. At one time they did a survey on ages of knife collectors, put me down for 85 and going strong.

I have a stockman problem . . . I don't have enough of them!
This pic was from about three years ago, and I've added a lot more since then.

Re: Schrades are better in groups
Thanks. Shields appear to have come and gone on some patterns seemingly at random. I don't know why. I prefer the shield but peachseed doesn't need anything extra either.KAW wrote:Knice lookin' group Paul ... odd how only one has a shield...
Jeff, those are some good stockmans. The square bolster 4" is still my favorite knife pattern.

One sterling and six pearl Gent's knives with their leather purses and some shiny friends. MOP knife top-left is NYKC the rest are Schrade.
Great groups folks! I don't say so after every post but I do like seeing them. Keep 'em comin'!
