83OT

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

83OT

Anyone ever heard of an 83OT ? It is not listed in the listing of old timers. Is it a remake of an open stock knife? Thanks, John

If it is the 3 5/16 inch serpentine jack knife with clip and pen blades it is the 33OT. We see these bad stamps all the time; people think it is an 8 but it a 3. Also on the 34OT stockman knife. People think it is an 84OT. There is no such thing.

I agree that there is no such thing as a production 83OT BUT..... Sometimes I wonder if employees didn't just go ahead and stamp that "8" on there as a joke or something.....LOL.

I do have a 34OT that has an "8" instead of a "3" for the first number in the tang stamp....
Yes, I know..... I am a "sky is falling" kind of guy buy THAT is an "8"....not a "3".....

Check it out.....
34 VS 84.JPG
And... here is my "83OT" that you can definitely see where the first "3" in the group is closed making it look like an "8"....
Still.... you can see that the "8" is really a "3"....
83 OT does not exist 1.JPG
OK.... y'all can go ahead and shoot me now....

LOL....

That would have required the employee have an 83OT stamp made.
The stamps were custom made, one piece stamps, they didn't have movable type in them.
I am not sure what a stamp cost, but I am sure it would be more than I would want to pay for a joke! ::nod::
