I get the 219 and 272 patterns mixed up. Maybe others do as well ? These small jacks are not seen as often as the full size Schrade knives.
Here is a jigged bone Schrade-Walden 219, 2 3/4"
And a Schrade/USA/272, jigged Delrin, 2 7/8"
Both have clip blade master and pen blade secondary even though on this 272 the profile looks almost sheepsfoot, it is pen.
This 272 has an ease out to access pen blade nail nick. Others i have seen have no ease out.
What amazes me is how similar they are yet the 272 seems quite a bit bigger than the 219, but it is only 1/8" longer.
I would like to see your examples of these 2 patterns: bone, Delrin, Wood, Stag ?, Black Plastic, etc. I think there is some variety in these 2 patterns, so let's see some.

Re: 219 & 272
Sure looks like more than 1/8 inch. They are close.
Re: 219 & 272
I like the small Schrade jacks too. I don't have either of these patterns but it occurred to me that if you flip the pen blade around on the 219 you'd have a 718 so with that stretch of reasoning it seems I do have a variant of your 219 after all:
I also have a much older Cut Co 2-3/4 jack with a half saber clip and pen blade. It's not in any catalog I've seen so no idea on a pattern number but it's another nice example of a small Schrade jack:
Sorry for hijacking your thread so early on..- Jason

jxr i have not see the type of celluloid handles that are on your SCC 'peanut'.
KAW, nice bone on the little Schrade Jack. There was a run of these towards the end but i cannot recall the name given to them.
Thanks for posting these.
I hope more small 'Schrade' jacks get posted here. They do not receive as much attention as the larger Jacks so this is a chance to get many of these smaller Jacks posted in one thread.

Re: 219 & 272
Is that possibly the same knife (minus the SFO etch) that was also one of the cigar box knives? And I also have been and still am confused on that bone, as somehow I am under the impression that it is Utica made for pre-2004 Schrade, and again later for Taylor-mades. Eric might know more about this?

Is 3 3/8 inches closed too large for this thread? Here is a 256 Schrade Walden in bone, with an etch. Listed in catalogs 1953 and 1954 only.
Re: 219 & 272
In an era where mass production becomes the way of life, it is not surprising a handmade knife wasn't offered for long... but a fine looking one for sure to be appreciated now if not then...
