Found me a 97OT at the gun show

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Found me a 97OT at the gun show

Post by Meridian_Mike »

Hello everyone.
I found this 97OT at the gun show last weekend. I am wondering what the little extras are really meant to be used for.
IOW, I know this knife was set up for a (maybe sporting) purpose. After the main blade there is a saw. Then there is something that looks like a nice vert pick for a flintlock (LOL). Then the last piece is a heavy duty set of tweezers.
Anyway, does somebody know the purpose for this knife?

The 97OT was only made for a couple of years (2000 - 2003 ?) but i see it as The Most Useful of all Schrade patterns. Often it takes less effort to saw through branches/sticks than to cut through with a knife blade. Also works for minor carpentry trimming and can saw bone too if you want to brush up on your orthopedic skills.
The pick works well as a scribe, e.g. mark wood where you want to saw, etc. Also good for poking into something and saving tip of clip blade. Tweezers are for your eyebrows, silly.

That's a good find, those are fairly tough to get for an OT.

COOL... Glad I added it to my collection. I knew that was the first one I ever saw in the wild.
