What Schrade RARE knife do you have

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Roger that's rare indeed, excellent knife.

This is probably the rarest one I have, it's definitely my favorite.

I don't recall ever seeing that, what is the difference from a 293?

The only difference is a brass shield. You can see the 291 penciled in on this distributors work sheet at $24 per dozen while the 293 was $21 per dozen. I guess not many were sold.

Do known if you would class this as a rare Schrade.Made at the time to go with the Schrade Old Timer.
I have searched for along time to purchase one for my son in law without any luck.
Here is a Ulster Old Timer sold as a 500T only over a two year period with bone handles.
You notice on this one it's stamped as a 50T.

Probably not a lot of these around
Schrade Walden Fortune Knife with solid 14K gold covers. It sold for $125 in 1946, with inflation that would be $1,658.19 today. It certainly wasn't a knife for the average working man.

Grant you definitely don't see many of the bone Ulster OT's, that's a beauty!

Nice gent's knife Dweb, super mint! ::tu::

Here are a couple; one's a fairly common LB7, but this is one of the very first made, #185, in the original countertop store display with the hard plastic lid (even has the original chamois for wiping it down after a customer handled it). The store owners were given these displays with a dozen (might have been two dozen, I can't recall) boxed knives to sell.

The other knife is a nickel silver handled four blade senator with a Schrade Cut Co Germany stamped scissor. The Germany stamps were extremely rare, only used in the very beginning of Schrade's existence. I believe the scissors were the last items to be used with the Germany stamp since they were the most difficult item to master. This knife has a file too which I left closed.

That senator with the German tang stamp is amazing, possibly one of the most rare Schrade's around. The only other Schrade I am aware of with a German tang stamp is the one pictured in Sargent's American Premium Guide to Pocket Knives Identification and Values that used to belong to Herman Williams. Of course, there is a lot about Schrade that I am unaware of.

Great Knives everyone!

Eric,

Schrade did two Adolphus Busch Bartenders Knives (Schrade Walden) and they also did the German Tang Stamped one as well. I really need to get some pictures posted of some of my rarities

I thought about posting my 2OT but then thought better of it, realizing there's a fellow I know who has a wool sack full of them so that can't be all that rare, right ?

Phil I didn't know you had a 2OT, you ought to show it ::tu:: They are fairly rare among schrade walden's, I would say anybody who has one is fortunate.

Tom those are some superb schrades, I really like the 2ot and 3ot. What years did they make the 897UH punch? I don't remember that one, one more to add to the list.

Doug,

I thought you might like that 100th Anniversary Bowie. Too bad they never went past the samples produced and a bunch of parts though...

Knifeslinger.... The 34OT and the 897UH never went into production because they didn't peak any interest. Those two knives were actually put together by my Mom who worked in Quality Control and presented the samples

She was told she could keep them or disassemble them for the parts. She decided to keep them and passed them to me

That explains why I can't find it in the catalogs. Very cool knives with a unique background.
