What Schrade RARE knife do you have

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

$416 for the set of Old Timer Redbone.
There must had been two bidder who wanted them bad or they just didn't know when to stop.

I was ready to stop well below the $416 mark. It was the other guy that kept pushing it up ::cb::

I got this bone 863 Kon-Kav this morning from ToungeRiver (thanks Cal) and thought i would compare it to the one I already had, I do believe they are twin sisters. We'll call this a semi rare pair! ::super_happy::

Keith, that drop point was made for the European market. They required a blade stamp stating the type of steel used. Nice knife!

Sweet Kon-Kav knives Greg!

My thinking on those green 36OTs is that they 'evolved' from a Ducks Unlimited Greenwing knife. What do you think? I've only ever seen a couple of them with the Old Timer shield. I like em!

I've seen the small United States Senate souvenir knives (DL-2) but this is the first LB7 I've come across with that blade etch. Knife was rough but cheap. I thought the etch was interesting.

Not many of these around, I guess. 1953 and 1954 in the catalogs.

Not sure just how rare this one is as far as Old Timer 8OTs go. Certainly not as rare as a bone 8OT. But the ones with Schrade over N.Y.U.S.A and 8OT on the pile side are a bit elusive for me to find. I assume this was the stamp used for early 74 production before switching to putting 8OT on the mark side? I've seen only one other pop up on feebay and I missed out on getting it. Found this one recently. Picked it up cheap, since it wasn't all shiny n stuff. We all know, shiny sells.

I think you are right about that. The question is "For how long?" I don't know.... 6 months? two years? ?

I could only speculate. The catalogs aren't much help since they are drawings. They don't even indicate a match strike pull on a 8OT from what can tell.
