I guess you could call this a schrade. Imperial knife M-7S survival knife, nylon sheath, black comp. handles and all the goodies you need to survive. 1985 production according to the box. Another yard sale score.

I have always wanted to get a close look at one of those toad stabbers, but have never pulled the trigger. Thanks for showing!
A few years back I bought a representative sample of the Safe T Grip knives, and the only ones I have used are the fillet knives, which I like. I have some in different colors, blade lengths, etc., and they are all in my kitchen. A good thin blade is very useful for more culinary tasks than just fish. This picture is just one that I found; they are not my knives.

I own one of the saf t grip hunters like in the picture. I use it a lot when camping, it has a good feel in the hand. I also do a lot of salt water fishing, now thinking about getting one of the fillet knives.

This is the only Schrade fixie I have, a recent acquirement. Mint (a term I don't use lightly) serialized 153UH Golden Spike.
Use to have one just like it I purchased new back in the 80s, and was always on my hip when I went to the woods. Unfortunately someone got into my truck and stole it a few years back.

I have a few of the Safe T Grip knives in green and one blue handled 141 Outfitter. Schrade made some great practical using knives. I like the X-Timers too. Especially the drop point XT2B and the big XT1B camp knife. I never saw me using the XT3B Fatboy Skinner, but I picked one up cheap anyway. Not purdy, but I like the grips on them and their usefulness. I wouldn't mind if the blades weren't painted black. The camp knife and blue Outfitter knives stay in my truck.

Re: Any chance of a sticky for fixed blade Schrades?
Here's two of my favorite fixed blade pattern of all time. One is a second revision with change to the sheath strap from pointed tip to round, and the other is one of the last revisions, with half serif font and strap change. I'll eventually get my hands on other revisions, but this is what I have for now.

I haven’t seen one of these posted here yet: a Schrade Bowie.
I got this and trade from Doug at the Oregon show. They are not really common and I don’t know that they were ever in the catalog except for special issues. I think they were mainly used as SFOs. This one came in a white box that was marked: “NRA 1996.” Actually the handwriting is hard to read it’s either 1996 or 1976, I think 96 is more accurate.
The Bowies were not tang stamp because they were generally etched with whatever they were commemorating or etched for the company ordering them.
This knife was unetched, a blank canvas so to speak.
It’s a nice knife and it’s pretty good-sized but not too big to use, unlike some Bowies.
Here is a shot of the Schrade Bowie in my hand, good sized but not huge and unwieldy.

Re: Any chance of a sticky for fixed blade Schrades?
If the sheath is original, I'd lean more towards 1976, due to the single strap style being like the first two revisions of the Sharpfinger sheath. Mine being the second revision sheath, it would put it in the same date range of 1976.

Lots of nice ones! Keep 'em coming, guys!
p.s. I had no idea that those bowies were a reasonable size; I was figuring huge.

Here is another good idea from Ducks Unlimited. A Staglon version of a 160OT Mountain Lion.

I have always liked the 160 pattern; it is unclear to me why it has never gotten much press. Herman did one for me in bone.

Here is a 165OT by our own Orvet, in Sambar stag. It is better in person than my weird scan.
Re: Any chance of a sticky for fixed blade Schrades?
Probably because it is essentially a thinner, lighter version of the 165. I imagine it would field dress a deer faster than a 160 because it is thinner and would have less drag on the cuts.tongueriver wrote:I have always liked the 160 pattern; it is unclear to me why it has never gotten much press.
The only advantage I see with the 165 is for the guy who wants use his knife to break the pelvis.
Although why he would want to do that is beyond me.

X2. Actually, in warm weather, I carry a knife to split the sternum to allow some extra cooling. I never split the pelvis.orvet wrote:Although why he would want to do that is beyond me.

Re: Any chance of a sticky for fixed blade Schrades?
I'm posting a second picture of my 164UH Badger because the first one came out all fuzzy for some reason when I posted it here. By the time I noticed what happened, it was too late to edit the post. I'm adding another 164UH that I have with different handle slabs on it. I have another one like this that I enjoy using. The other knife is my 162UH Wolverine. I have never used one but they look like a good skinning knife that would keep up with it's cousin, the 152UH Wolverine, (which I have never used either). Truth is, the last few years that I hunted Mule Deer and Antelope I just carried and used an LB7 Bear Paw. The only issue with the LB7 is that it gets slippery as soon as it gets blood and guts on it. I like as small a knife as I can get away with and do the job at hand.
Re: Any chance of a sticky for fixed blade Schrades?
It seems like with filet knives that the 167Uh Steelhead gets the most attention. I have one and it's a fine knife. I bought it for about 20 bucks I think in a clampack at a Gart Sports store that has since gone under, which is sad. But I prefer the 168UH Walleye which is a little shorter and straighter. I keep one in the kitchen drawer. I got this one a couple of years ago from a confused guy on ebay that appeared to have copied and pasted the description from Taylor Brands website. He even posted MADE IN CHINA in big red letters. Well, it wasn't. I picked it up for $25.50 delivered. I like the feel of these types of handles on Schrades. Pictures are from the ebay auction.

The UH fillet knives are classy. I really like a fillet knife in the kitchen. My wife uses the Walleye quite often. I tend toward the Sure Grip fillet knives, myself.

Great Schrade Fixed Blades all!
Glad to see this thread. I'll add to it with my latest, a "Hunter's Pride".
Plus a shot with his "Bowie Hunter" brothers, a 165 in the Guacho sheath, and 125OT and 25OT sheathed also just cause I like those sheaths.

Producer: An enviable collection. Very nice. And I see why you like those sheaths. They look extra substantial.
