Schrade 4" knives - Post them here.

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

These are 4" as well, an excellent large slenderino. I foresee many of these and it's ilk in the future.

What looks like an unremarkable 8ot was my grandpa Leroy's knife. It has some wobble and I would have to re tip the sheepsfoot and clip if I were going to use it. I have since cleaned the gunk and rust specks that were on it but left everything else the same. I have many other 4" schrade stocks I can use. This one will be preserved as is since it has meaning.

Just admired all the 4" Schrades in this thread and realized the Schrade that I posted the other day concerning the jimping issue is a 4". This is a well used 861 Schrade Walden that I really enjoy handling, it just has the "feel" of a real knife! Let's call it a 4" HOK. :)

Those 861s have always been a favorite of mine. Hint: The 69 is the analog in the Camillus line.

That 861 is a good old true schrade. It's the older and better version of the 61ot. ::tu::

Thanks for the correction Paul.

Ken, does your 885 have a UH stamp on the smaller blades?

I have always considered this 885UH, to be a very early knife.
It is a super mint example of an 885UH - No box or paper-work.
Very long nail pull, more snap than an alligator, with black and white scales.
All blades are stamped "Stainless", Main blade is stamped "Schrade N.Y. U.S.A. 885UH"
Brass liners are stamped "69033" and have jimping on the bottom of the liners.

The knife in the lower left-hand corner, is an "886 UH" made by Camillas... Ken.

I just looked at mine. Serial # 08497. Milled liners. Tang stamp on master SCHRADE/WALDEN/N.Y.U.S.A./STAINLESS. Tang stamps on secondaries both say STAINLESS. They do not say UH. Hinged brown box, red insert, two pieces of paperwork.

I have just looked for the first time, at two 885s in Brown Boxes with all the paper-work.
The one like your knife [A8819] has both blades stamped "UH" and came in a Red lined box with red paperwork.
Its' main blade is stamped "Schrade N.Y. U.S.A. 885UH"

The other [7880] has no stamping on both small blades. It came in a Blue lined box.
Its' main blade is stamped "Schrade+ U.S.A. 885UH"

I have just found an 897UH [Q3078] Main blade stamped "Schrade N.Y. U.S.A. Stainless 897UH".
This 897 has the milled liners.

Another six 885s in smaller Brown boxers, in white sleves - Look the same as all the 885s I have in the later boxes... Ken

Thanks for the info Ken. My UH stamp has a red lined box as well. It also has smooth nickel silver liners. The older 885UH's, particularly the walden's, are just about my favorite delrin knives.

Nice 834 SCHRADE WALDEN ink etched JACK KNIFE BEN. Don’t think the handles are bone, it has to be one of the last knives Jack Knife Ben sold. What would be the estimated year for this knife?

That's the one ::tu:: . Last month I was following the same knife at a hardware auction in Missouri - but I forgot to bid on it! The winner put it up on ebay as soon as he got his hands on it.

I have two of them, neither one minty. One is strange; it has Rogers bone. That is a mystery.
