My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Thanks Cal, I've waited a long time to add one of these to my collection.

Howdy,
recently picked up a few for cheap ::woot::

top one I gave 4 and a quarter online

the fixed blade I found in a consignment/antique shop for $20. My new camping/"bushcraft" knife ::tu:: Removed the top hand guard. No sheath so using my Ontario pilot knife sheath.

the 89ot was 16.50

and the 94ot was $10

Didn't get 'em all at the same time but over the last couple weeks. There all users.

I hate it when people try to "clean" a knife with sandpaper. Just sell it as is.
I didn't like the mottled patina so I just buffed gently and will work on my own patina.

Love me some Schrades... especially good deals

My favorite brand for 40+ years

I understand what you are saying...most people do more harm than good, but you can do a pretty good restoration with sandpaper if you have the patience. This is a 236 I cleaned up for my collection.

Not a Schrade, but a dandy little Ulster 55G with nice green bone scales. 3 1/4" long and tang stamped, ULSTER KNIFE USA. Mirror polished on mark side of clip blade. Shiny mint condition without a single speck. :D

Mustanger that's a super little Ulster.
The 55 you have must be the earlier version as the later had the same blades as the Old Timer 580T

I can't say just what the deal is with the Ulster #55 variations. Maybe something to do with the 3 1/4" length? I know of 6 variations on the #55. I have a couple, not including the red Bonite and the black birdseye. Those belong to someone else.

In 1954 Ulster had 4 55's on their price list. Sure wish we could get them for these prices now.

LRV, It looks like they did the same thing with the #50 too. And one #50 is not on that list. The 50D, ('D' for deer?)
Ditto on the prices!

Ulster, Kingston and Imperial were kinda joined at the hip for some time during and after WWII. That may have something to do with the same knife having different tang stamp signatures. As you know we see that a lot after Schrade took over Ulster's factory. The Ulster has 50D stamped in large script on the pile side of the clip blade. I did not know about the Kingston knife.

I have to up the number of #55 variations that I know of from 6 to 7. While searching for production dates for my 55G, I ran across this 55D in the 1959 catalog. Does anyone have one of these? I can't even find a picture of one.

Thanks for posting those, Grant. Now I'm up to 8 variations of the #55 with your 55D that has a drop point main blade. I really like that one! Odd how Ulster changed the main blades from clip, Turkish clip and drop point like that. The only constant seems to be that they are all 3 1/4" long with 3 blades until the 58OT came out.
