Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Here are a couple DU in the laser carved walnut box. At the time, I was on a hard-wood kick and a wood handled knife in a wooden box just hit the spot.

Dale apparently that series had more than one pattern offered.
Here's a 34 in same tin supposedly from 2003 also.

This knife is in Schrade's 2003 Product Guide.
Her is some more of my ducks in tins.
woseljales, I think your knife is etched 2001, Schrade must have been bringing out one knife each year... Ken

Ken I was thinking along the lines of one/year also.
Neither of my pics have the dated etch clearly shown.
I'm not sure where that particular tin is at the moment
so no way to reinspect quickly.
That's reason I had 'supposedly' thrown in there.
But I do have the pictures labeled as 03DU834 and doubt
I would have done that if the etch wasn't 2003.
Ain't it a shame when you write this stuff down and STILL
can't remember? ::nod::

Must be more than one Whittlin' Kit too.
Mine has green border on tin and knife
has older style Schrade over N.Y. U.S.A.
over 881Y tang while booklet has copyright 2002.
magazine ad in box claims limit of 1500
Good thing there's a DUCK on the lid
so we can post them in here, huh?

[quote="woseyjales"]Ken I was thinking along the lines of one/year also

Ducks or no duck, I just like talking about Schrade knives.
First I can say, my first knife was an 881; I discovered back in 1972, I still use that same old knife almost every day.
Back to the Ducks, over the past 3 years I have spent most of my time, collecting Schrade items made from 2000 to the close-down.
All the Ducks with etched blades and dated, have a black duck on the handle for the 2003-2004 knives - The earlyer Ducks have a gold duck on the handle 2001?-2003. I have found, the Schrade story of 2004 is a mixed up tale - with a lot of mixed up knives.

Dale old mate, could you send me copies of some of your flyers to my eMail address ...Ken

This is the first time I have seen this mint one, although I have had it for a year or two.
I have two of these 15 DUC LTD knives, with the "DU" cut out of the blade, I do not know when they were made.
My other "15 Duck" has the out-line of a duck head, cut in the blade.
