KAW don't blame you at all for outbidding me...that is a particularly nice slenderino. As to the 8OT, while it seems to be a popular pattern among most collectors, that one is only the 2nd one in my collection.

I got this one for Christmas, a Schrade Walden SS700 melon tester, looks to be from the '60s, excellent condition.

I like those melon testers, too. They are handy around most fruit, and oh so cute. ::tu::

They make dandy letter openers. For some reason I like’em.

Thanks guys for the comments.
I think bone has more character than other handle materials with the possible exception of ivory. I like the way the bone changes as I'm working with it, hafting and polishing it. I also love the way it changes with age like it has in this knife.

Make that 5.. I like the Butter and Molasses scales.
Here's an old Cut. Co. razor, a 234K and a 863 EDC that Herman put some Candy Cane Celluloid on.

dweb1897... that is a very interesting grouping you posted. I didn't know Schrade offered straight razors. :o Guessing they are pretty rare? Luv the handle on that one. ::tu::
Sweet candy cane handles... How long ago did Herman create that one?
The 234K is my favorite EDC... 8)

KAW, I sure haven't seen many Schrade straight razors. Herman Williams tells me that those handles are not stock as Schrade never used the barn door hinge bolsters, to his knowledge. At one time he worked on a lot of straight razors so I'll accept his judgement. The 233 is one of my favorite patterns and having a small collection of B&M it was a necessary addition. Unfortunatley I can't display it with my 233's because of the chance of out-gassing. I am however putting together a small display of celluloid knives. The 863 with the Candy Cane celluloid along with this 233 in Christmas Tree celluloid were done by Herman this past September with the idea of adding some color to the display. He sent this Keen Kutter straight razor with Tortoise Shell celluloid handles at the same time as a gift. The Christmas Tree and Candy Cane celluloid is some he has had on hand from his days at the Schrade factory. He believes it was of a newer style and hasn't had any problems with it out-gassing. Still, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
