What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Here is an unusual old Schrade fixed blade.

OAL - 6-1/4"
Blade length - 3-1/4" tip to guard.

The tang reads:
STAGBRAND/GEO.SCHRADE KNIFE CO.
The back side tang is ink stamped 153.

I don't think George Schrade put out many fixed blades.
I think this is the only one I have in my collection.

Charlie might have some.

Dale,

Nice old knife ::nod::

I have two or three of them in my collection. They do not turn up very often, atleast I see very few of them for sale.

Do you have the original sheath?

I wish I did have the sheath.
Do you have one with the sheath?
If so could you post a pic?
Maybe I can find a sheath close to original for it.

Dale,

Here is the Schrade knife and original sheath. I don`t think this knife was ever used. I am positive the sheath is the original one. The sheath is very ornate and very attractive. Not many American companies had ornate sheaths, usually they just stamped their company name or trademark logo on the sheath. One of the exceptions would be Cattaraugus.

The only other sheaths I have seen this ornate are ones made in Germany. Maybe Geo. Schrade had these sheath knives made in Germany and stamped with his name. I seems likely to me, as not many of these are found today. Any Schrade historians out there know something about these fixed blade Schrade knives??

Not my latest, I've had it for quite a while, but it is an unusual knife, the only one I've seen that had the candy stripes running lengthways.

It's in excellent but far from mint condition.

By the way, this knife is a Schrade Cut. Co.

Here is an old Schrade Walden whittler, an 804, these whittlers are just about like the Case 6380's. They are fairly common but I really like the light colored peach seed bone on this example and the saber ground master blade.

Thanks for the kind words on the knives. Here's a little senator pen that I have always loved the handles on. A lot of people are afraid of celluloid handles and with some justification, but when you see these 70 and 80 year old knives with celluloid that doesn't appear to have deteriorated at all, it makes you wonder.

This one is a Schrade Cut. Co.

Here's two that I bought a couple of weeks ago. Been used a lot and the file blade on the Senator has been reground to a whatever. Very used but not badly abused and I only paid $10 for the two of them. Thought they were kind of cool and they are the two oldest knives I have.

That's a nice old Jack msteele6! You see more spear master versions. I was doing some scans today so I scanned my latest old Schrade, SCHRADE, WALDEN, NY USA, 730 stamped.
The scans don't do it justice but does show that it retains the original glaze finish. If it was used it wasn't used much. Saw it on Ebay and had to have it, so I'm sorry to anyone I sniped at the last seconds.
