What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

These 3 are not in the best shape but I couldn't pass them up - A friend buys all kinds and brand of folding knives and I sell them for him - He brought these over with about 40 or 50 more to sell - I bought these 3 for myself to keep for a while

Added another mismatched cover Schrade Cut Co to the collection, this makes 3 and I know of one other. When I found the first one I thought it was a one off, now I think Schrade did it intentionally, just don't know why.

Those are really nice knives!!

I have been told that sometimes 2 different covers were given to salesmen on sample knives to show potential buyers the cover options..... I don't know if this is the case but it sounds good.....LOL

What was the hot stamp (scrimshaw)? If it was animals it might be possible to date it to the year. Those "Scrimshaw of the Great American Outdoors" with animal motifs started in 1976 and there is a year-by-year chart in Levine's 4th Edition. Nice job on a great pattern, by the way. ::tu::

The old handles were two Buffalos. Here are some pictures. Thanks for the help.

They did bison in the linerlock in 1979, so that is probably the right one. They may or may or may not have done a different bison in the linerlock after 1996. I know of two different images of bison, but I believe the 1979 example is probably the correct one here.

Thanks for the help, Tongueriver ::handshake:: Do you know why the tang has SCC on it? I have a SC500 with Beavers but the Tang just says Schrade USA SC500. Also the nail nick is in the center of the blade.

I know that some Schrades were made for them by Camillus and some of those had S.C.C. on them so this is probably the case here as well. And that might also account for the nail nick being different. Schrade and Camillus were joined at the hip for several years.

Thank you for that information. So does the S.C.C. stand for Schrade Camillus Cutlery??

It is a resurrected stamp from the early years of the old Schrade Cutlery Company. They just decided to use it; they owned it. Similarly, Schrade used the Walden stamp until 1973, but they had moved to Ellenville in 1958! Then a few years went by and they started using the Walden stamp again toward the last years of the company. Then Stewart Taylor bought the trademarks and there are all kinds of "Walden" Schrades out there that don't even have anything to do with the original two iterations of the company.

Hi Cal,
That knife looks like a Super Market knives, made by Camillus with the old S.C.C. stamp.

Much the same stamp, used on the Uncle Henry 886UH. [S.C.C.+]
Sold as a low-end- Schrade knife at Walmart ...

It was made about 1980 ... GOOGLE "Schrade S.C.C. SC 500".... Ken

Here is my latest.

834uh deer antler.jpg
I picked up this old schrade 34ot with broken blades and handles. So I decided to give it new life I had all the blades for a 34OT except the clip blade. I had a bunch of blades I purchased off ebay . In the bunch was a Schrade 834UH clip blade. Great I am in business!! I decided to use deer antler for the handles from some buck sheds I found in my field. I just wanted to share with everyone. I really like the look.

Looks really good, Nev! ::tu:: I wouldn't mind having bucks shedding their antlers in my backyard. Instead, I get ::cuss:: raccoons.
