Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I have a bunch of Jack Knife Ben knives with peach seed bone. Here are two with the JACK KNIFE BEN HANDY DANDY JR. The one with the bright etch is tang stamped SCHRADE WALDEN N.Y., the one with the faded etch has no tang stamp but has numbers 0302 on the back of the master blade.

Some mighty fine old soldiers, there, JNB!
Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I picked up this 3" sleeveboard lobster on the cheap this week. It's not in the catalogs but it's most similar to the 9679SS from the 1930 supplement. Maybe it's a SFO based on that pattern. The handles are solid sterling and the pile side tang on the spear blade has 50 over 800 - maybe #50 of 800 made? This one also had the liner milled which is hidden until you open the file blade.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
This 710 came in yesterday, the jigging was gunked up and there was a little rust. It cleaned up nicely, and only cost about the same as a whataburger with fries and a shake, but unlike a whataburger with fries and a shake this knife will bring long term satisfaction
I like this stamp.

I like that little knife; I did not spot it in Dale's research section. Somebody bought a little one today, a newbie that undercut me. It was a little tiny SW stockman with oblique bolsters. and cracked ice covers. The seller did not furnish a tang stamp with a pattern number. I hope the buyer posts, but I am not expecting it.KnifeSlinger#81 wrote:This 710 came in yesterday, the jigging was gunked up and there was a little rust. Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Thanks Cal It's been hit and miss lately for me. This lobster only got one bid - mine, so it was cheap. BTW I'm the newbie that undercut you on that cracked ice stockman today lol. I'll post pics when it arrives but I already know it's an 818M. Not in any of the available catalogs. My guess is early fifties.tongueriver wrote:Very nice lobster indeed! Thanks for showing it! Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I would not necessarily lean towards early 50's as it would have been more likely in the early 50's for them to have used the earlier walden stamp (like the 708 I just showed) and possibly stamp all blades. I have some knives with that stamp on all blades and some on just the main blade, but none have a pattern number.jxr1197 wrote:My guess is early fifties.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Thanks Cal, I like it too. This one is much better than the swinden 708's that got much fatter, it is very slim. I mistakenly called it a 710 rather than a 708 (I was mixing it up with an 810), so maybe that's why you didn't find it Here is a catalog cut.tongueriver wrote: I like that little knife; I did not spot it in Dale's research section.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
The knife doesn't appear in any of the catalogs that are available but it does show up on two pricelists - 1950 and 1955. The 1950 listing calls for a tooled back but the '55 doesn't. I'll post some pics when I get it - I can't tell from the ebay pictures.KnifeSlinger#81 wrote:I would not necessarily lean towards early 50's

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Put this one in the boys knife thread but it belongs here also, early Schrade Cut Co jack, really slim sheeps foot, unfortunately been buffed.
Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Picked up a pair of minty trappers this past week, one is a bone Schrade 293. Really like this size trapper.
Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Here ya go - the 818M in all her tiny glory. 2.75", obliques, cleaned inside but no file work on the back.tongueriver wrote:..The seller did not furnish a tang stamp with a pattern number. I hope the buyer posts...

That one is sweet Jason, now I wish I would have tried for it. However I didn't because I was saving for a higher priority, which I did win. You'll see it here soon

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I found this gem amongst two other knives that it didn't belong with, so I rescued it to be with its peachseed brethren
