Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
The 0302 is obviously a contract number. Schrade made my knife. It is microscopically correct to the Schrade pattern, the bone, the jigging, the grinds, the shield, the whole nine yards. There is zero chance that it was made by anyone else, unless you think that the work going on in the Ulster buildings was not Schrade, which of course it was. The pattern never made it into the Schrade Walden catalogs because it was not being made any more. But obviously Jack Knife Ben (or his sons) ordered up a batch from the pattern out of the old Schrade CutCo catalog. I have shown the catalog cut.

It has been a lot of fun trying to see how many of my Jack knife Ben’s were made by Schrade. Have you seen my collection?

By the way, there has been a JKB on Ebay lately that does not resemble anything that Schrade ever made. I don't recognize the maker at all.

Fake just like a lot of Jack knife Ben knives. Tom Maxim in Cristian Tn. use to sell some swearing they were originals. My favorites are the Napanoch, Winchester, and Schrade made for Jack knife Ben before 1935 when Ben sold out to the sons.

Great knife JKB. I would like to see your collection too. Here is a couple more old schrades. Looks to have left some renaissance wax on a shield.

Very nice, luckydog64! Real beauties!
Just thinking about the new Case knives that are mentioned in a different thread this evening, they may be good but a flipper doesn't come close to such as these in my opinion. Some of us old fellers still like the old knives but I'll admit I sometimes carry a tactical style knife along with a HOK so I won't screw it up.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
This morning, this pocket knife joined my collection. It's a G. SCHRADE, single blade, cap lifter/bottle opener, all metal, 3" closed, advertising pocket knife. I bought this pocket knife because it is a "cousin" of the Allen Cutlery Company, the Eagle Knife Company and the other cutlery companies that manufactured pocket knives of a similar style/pattern. It needed a minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

That is a most excellent find Jason. Well done! I have only seen a couple of those.
It is in the 1938 catalog supplement, but only as a pattern number and no image.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I've got one of those as well with the same shield. I had a hard time finding in the catalog too. I think I skimmed over it three times while looking for the actual image of the moose version. Finally found it when I spotted the stockman with the same shield and size and read that description:KnifeSlinger#81 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 4:37 pm

One that's a REAL mystery to me is this Ulster moose. It's a four inch knife, likely based on the 80 pattern stockman. I've never seen another like it nor have I seen one in a catalog. This is the only pic I have of it, alongside the Schrade:

- Thanks for that, I never would have found it for the same reason Eric said - I was only looking for a pic that matched. It's nice to have the pattern number now.KnifeSlinger#81 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 4:37 pmIt is in the 1938 catalog supplement, but only as a pattern number and no image.
I think you might have a 25578 there.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I guess I need to share this old Schrade Walden on in this thread.
Interesting thing to me but really just coincidental, the tang stamp is the one from 1946, my birth year to 1973 our 1st born"s birth year. The knife could be as young as 48 years old or as old as 75. Treefarmer

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Narrowing it down a little bit more, your horticultural knife with that tang stamp would be about 1952 to 1962.
