Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Thanks. On Monday tracking said it had been delivered, but it wasn't to me. I went to the Post Office Annex building, where the carriers are, yesterday morning and talked to a supervisor. He said it was addressed correctly and that he was going to speak to my carrier. I got it yesterday afternoon in my mailbox with a hole about two fingers in size in the box where the flap closes. But all's well that ends well, I guess. Very beefy knife with some big swedges.

Glenn, are those 837 whittlers ?
Whatever, they are fine looking older Schrades and not easy to find especially in unused condition.

Awesome set Glenn. The top one looks like it could be a 2364 3/4B, the bottom could be a R7664 3/4B.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Thanks. They're not bone or anything sexy like that, but the condition was pretty nice with the 2 different finishes on the main blade. they're both 2-bladers.
I haven't had a chance to pattern match them yet, but you're probably right Papa

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I just fished this old Schrade out of the bay....
It is a 225H with bone covers. The shield is missing and there is a chip out of the bone on the pile side but that is OK....
I'm just kinda wondering, were there very many 225H knives made with bone covers?
Most of the ones I see around have the delrin covers.
It definitely needs a good clean-up!

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Picked up this interesting Schrade Walden 861 stockman. This knife came from a group several years ago from the Schrade factory collection. It's an early Walden as all 3 blades are stamped. It has the typical milled liners, but also has fancy worked backsprings. It also has an E stamped before the 861 pattern #, and was stamped separately. Also 12 cents was inked on the back.I sent pictures to Eric snd discussed this knife. He said the backspring work was called "engine turning", and hadn't seen it before but knew of it.He speculated that it was a factory prototype of some kind.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Roger, very interesting knife and very interesting information Have never heard the term “engine turning” to describe fancy filing work or engraving on a back spring or liner. Thanks for posting photos of this unique knife! Thanks also to Eric for the information!

It was hard to get a good photo of the backsprings. The work is very crisp and actually kind of sparkles in light.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Here is that 7OT with the dried out covers....
NOW, it just came to me about an hour ago and as soon as I got it, I put some light oil on the covers....
Here is what it looks like now.....
All I did was oil it and rub it in with my fingers.
Not too bad I don't recon.
This knife has never been used!
