Anyone ever seen a #212 pipe smokers knife?

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Anyone ever seen a #212 pipe smokers knife?

Post by Meridian_Mike »

I just found this one a few minutes ago....
Not any really good pictures by the seller. This seller didn't show the blades so I just bought it for the novelty of the shape. One end is narrowed into a taper for tamping the tobacco in a pipe. AND... it looks like the pivot pin is really high off center.... Hmmmmm.
Here is the seller's pics.....

I have no idea of the history or how many of these were actually produced.... This is the first one like this I have ever seen. How about y'all?

I looked at google images and there is only a hand full of images of this knife.
I did find one of it open so I "borrowed" the picture for reference in this thread....

Anybody got one of these?

No but I have one that's somewhat similar. I bought it for the shield.

Nice find Mike!
I have at least one of them but is not in nearly as good condition.
Vit, those are pretty much dead mint! How do you get such perfect Camillus knives where you live?

I have a boatload of other pipe knives, just not Camillus'.
But the Camillus pipe knife I have is what I personally used when I smoked a pipe.

Sorry for the old scans, I need to get good pics of many of the old knives I scanned.

If someone knows of a pipe knife or smoker's knife topic somewhere, or of you start one, let me know and I will post a bunch I have.
I just don't want to hijack this topic.

(Like that has stopped me before!) ::facepalm::

Is the rounded tip on the coping blade for scraping the bowl?

Possibly. I can also see it as being useful for removing excessive carbon buildup. Or perhaps is was reprofiled at some time? ::shrug::

Jerry and Mike, you have some amazing knives. Mike, I've seen one like that but don't know anything about it. Excellent result.

Oh, I also have a lot of inspiration with the theme of pipe knives or smoking knives from a long time ago. However, I have not had the opportunity to hunt for a few for myself. .

They are out there....
BUT, I have only come across a very a few. They are not as prevalent as other folders but really cool since they have a special use.!

Good luck in your search!
