I like to play the Ponies and their clones.

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I like to play the Ponies and their clones.

Post by Papa Bones »

I've always been fond of the Pony Jack Style knives. Like the Camillus 21, Craftsman 9507, and Schrade 272 & 12OT varients. So I got this one in today to add to my Camillus and Pony Jack Family.

It's a Camillus long line tang stamp, Pattern 21 Pony Jack. Although Camillus states the 21 Is 2-13/16 inches closed, this one and a black handle one I have are closer to 2-7/8 ". It has a Sabre Clip master blade and pen secondary. The blades are tight with no wobble and have great snap. It has the brown composite handles that Camillus called brownstag. They still have the original luster with some small scratches.The only down side of this knife is the pile side handle is faded some and the owner has his name etched on the blade and rear bolster. But this doesn't bother me, it's just a neat little knife. But if you happen to know Tom Luft, tell him I have his knife now.

Thanks for posting this thread Smitty , that’s a size that’s overlooked a lot .
Here’s a couple, the top one is bone, 21 the other is a 22 that believe was rehandled ,but the same size as 21 ,same tang stamp .
Good Idea Smitty ::tu::

Good looking knives JP. ::tu:: ::tu:: Yep if it is a 22 it has probably been rehandled. I think the only difference between a 21 and a 22, is that the 22's had the white or yellow handles what Camillus called "Maize Pyroxylin" handles which if I remember was a type of celluloid. But I believe the later 22's had yellow delrin.

There was also a pattern 32 which was the same dimensions and had what Camillus called Agate Pyroxylin handles.

Thought I would post a collective of some of my Pony Clones. But I have a question. Does anyone know of a older Kutmaster Catalog. I would like to know what the Kutmaster (Left column 5th from the top in upper photo, left column 4th from top in bottom photo) is called. It is the dimension and style of frame of a Pony Jack, it has two blades, but the secondary is a coping blade and is on the left side of the frame.

Not a beauty, but I added another to my Camillus Pony Jack family. Got this at a trade day yesterday for cheep$. A Camillus Long Line tang stamp Camillus 21 Pony Jack with black composite handles. I believe it has been repined, but can't understand someone putting in the effort in an inexpensive knife years ago. The seller said he had it about 6 or 8 years and it was that way when he got it. It has an exposed pin in the front bolster. Both blades have wear, had some surface rust on the blades & in the wells but have awesome snap with very positive half-stops. It needed some cleaning, and had several years of pocket lint packed in the blade wells. But here it is after the warm mineral oil spa treatment, & flush, with some steel wool thrown in for good measure.

Hey there Smitty , your pony herd is a growing . Nice snag on the last one . ::tu::
Did some checking on that
Kutmaster with the different blade configuration and couldn’t find one like it . It looks like a mystery for now to me. Maybe a Kutmaster Guy ,it’s the first I’ve seen in that frame . Let us know if you find out , thanks for the pony show.
Jerry ,that’s a nice herd you got there as well . Thanks for showing those ::tu::

Hey there Smitty ,was digging around in my Case Corner and noticed these 2 . A 3220 CV Yellow handle and a 6220 SS Blue bones. Would they fit in with the requirements for the pony herd ? When I hold them along side the Camillus in the pic the frames seem very close. The bolsters are not as squared off as the Cams or Ka bar shown .
Nice thread ,Thanks for posting it.
