Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Well....... I finally found one and very glad to be able to add it to my Camillus 72 Clone Family. A 1999 Harley Davidson HD-21 three blade whittler. It is 3-5/8 inch closed. It has the Clip Master Blade with Harley Davidson tang stamp on the front side and H.D.21 over 440SS USA with the year 1999 and HD on the pile side. It has a Coping secondary, and serrated small clip blade third blade. Blades are tight, no wobble, and excellent snap. The blades have the original luster and finish and don't appear to have ever been on a stone since new. It has the Winged H-D shield on black stagged handles. The only thing I've done is oil the joints. It does have some faint scratches on the bolsters.

Nice! You don't see the Camillus HD knives that often, and when you do, they're typical "biker knives"--i.e. big lockbacks. Looks great too!

The serrated small clip blade is really unusual. Seems on the multiblade Stanley and Harley knives Camillus made for United Cutlery, they liked to shove in serrated blades. And they cut really well.

Thanks Cody. It always amazes me at the variations you find on Camillus through the years.

Thanks Jerry. Saw that. I kind of wonder if the Harley Davidson contract was a rush job for them to get out. If you look closely at my photos, look at the hafting area of the handles. They didn't go to great links to polish them or remove the lines.

This afternoon, this pocket knife joined my CAMILLUS 72 variation/clone collection. It's a KEEN KUTTER 786, 3 blade, swelled center, milled liners, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. The only difference, that I can see, between the KEEN KUTTER 786 and the KEEN KUTTER K30, is that the 786 has milled liners and the K30 doesn't. The main blade has seen better days. This KEEN KUTTER pattern doesn't make an appearance that often, so I bought it. It will still make a good filler until a better one surfaces. It did require some cleaning. I cleaned it up, took some pictures and here it is.

Here's the link to my two (so far), KEEN KUTTER K30 pocket knives.

Great Snag Skip!! ::tu:: Another one of what I call "Unicorns" as far as the 72 Clones go. Your correct, you don't see many Keen Kutter K30's or 786's pop up often. Still a good looking piece. At least they tried to make the master blade look like a Wharcliffe blade. :D
