Camillus 72! Or What's In The Mail?
I won this particular auction. Below is the title, description and pictures (seller's) of the auction.
Either the wrong pictures were posted and the title & description are correct. Or the pictures are correct and the title & description are wrong. Normally, if I'm not interested in the item, I'll contact the seller and point out the error. But I was interested and didn't notify the seller. Didn't want the auction pulled and possibly lose a #72. So whatever I'm actually going to receive, it has been shipped. If it isn't a #72, then I don't know what I'm receiving. Maybe a #14? I believe I win no matter what I get ($14 + shipping). When I get it, I'll post pictures of the mystery knife.

Maybe they just hit the wrong number button while they were typing. Happens to me all the time.

Maybe so, but I find it odd that the 3rd blade is not open in any of the pictures. There were a couple more pics, but very blurry, so I didn't include them with the others. I "should" know by this Friday.Colonel26 wrote:Maybe they just hit the wrong number button while they were typing. Happens to me all the time.

Re: Camillus 72! Or What's In The Mail?
If you want it to be a surprise, don't read this.
It's a Camillus (or course) 72 with what they called Brownstag® (synthetic) handles. Brownstag® was introduced in 1956 or 1957 and discontinued in the mid-late '60s in favor of Delrin®. Once again I will state that it's my belief that the long line tang stamp was introduced somewhere around the mid-late '50s. I've been unable to find any definitive proof to back up that belief. Please come back and provide some good clear pictures when it arrives. A $14 72 is a good find. Even with the lousy pictures, it appears to be in pretty decent condition.

Re: Camillus 72! Or What's In The Mail?
The surprise won't be what pattern of #72 the knife is. The surprise will be if the knife that I receive is a #72 at all. I am not 100% sure that the knife pictured is the knife that I won or that I will receive. The title and "item specifications" say 2 blades. The seller's description doesn't mention # of blades at all. Here are the "item specifications." (copied & pasted)jerryd6818 wrote:If you want it to be a surprise, don't read this.

Well it's one of the few things I'm fairly confident about knowing and sharing information is one of the things AAPK is about, so..........New_Windsor_NY wrote:Thank you jerryd6818 for the previous info. NWNYjerryd6818 wrote:Ah Hah. I see your point. Good luck.

If the knife is indeed a 72 and the 3rd blade is "frozen" shut, I WILL get it to open and function normally.carrmillus wrote:....I'm pretty sure you are going to get a "72" with a frozen clip blade...all you need now is some "salve"!!!!............. .......................
