MK I Deck Knife?

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

MK I Deck Knife?

Post by cody6268 »

I just scored this one for $9. Really beat up. Hoping I can make a good user out of it, but am now beginning to think I bought a true POS. I'm not too sure what it is--a MK I Deck Knife? I see that it lacks the "USN" stamp on one side of the blade.

I'm thinking, at 9 bucks...that still is going to make a pretty good user.

Wouldn't mind at all finding one for $9. With a little effort it will make a fantastic user. Good score.

Without a "USN" stamp on the mark side, it is NOT a USN MK1.

Since it so closely resembles one (steel guard, 5" blade, stacked leather handle, bakelite pommel), I would say that what you have is a post-WW2 "hey we just got hung with a whole pile of knife parts when the government canceled all our contracts after Japan surrendered but we already had all the parts made and ready to be assembled so what do we do now?" knife, that "just happens" to be made with all MK1 parts. Except for the USN stamp.

And $9 is a steal.
