Camillus 77

I looked through this forum and did not see any 77's discussed so I thought I would show this one. It is the 1960's through late 1970' tang stamp. It looks like a miniature 72 which is why it caught my eye. A tiny little knife.

Although the blade arrangement is similar between the 77 & 72, the frames are of different patterns. I think it is the frame that might make one knife be similar to another.

I got fooled by one of those. The auction was about to close at a low price so I jumped on it without reading and was shocked when it arrived. Camillus called it the "Midget Stockman" and it's a sister to the Schrade 108OT which I carried for several years back in the late '60s - early '70s. My 77 has since gone to Trinidad to live with Paul (Edgewise).

Thanks gentlemen. They looked a lot alike and I thought they might be kin. It actually told me it wanted to be a 72 when it got big.

Very recently, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, I was quite surprised and pleased when I discovered it and it is most certainly a keeper. It is a CAMILLUS 77, three blades, two tang stamps, 2 3/4" closed, two springs, midget stockman, pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade tang stamp says "CAMILLUS (over) NEW YORK (over) USA" The main blade back tang stamp says "77" All three blades have a very good opening and closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD+ condition. I gave it a very minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Great find there Skip Good work ... I have gone through my CAMILLUS (Camilluses? CAMILLAI?... ) and found only 3 with "The No Line" marking. If you add the 1944 USN/USCG salior's/rope knives a couple more with no line. ... So the question is; why do I have so many more Short-Lines that I have found? ... Because when I am out looking for knives at local places, flea markets, antique stores etc...etc... I will buy any old CAMILLUS if the price is right and condition good, but I almost never see one with "The No Line" marking. I find 3-lines, 4 lines, Short-lines and Long-lines... But the "The No Line" marking just aren't out there... at least around here...

The no lines are out there but you have to keep a close watch for them. The 99's and fish knives seem the most common. My favorite is my no line 72. I need to get them out for a group pic.

Agree with Dan, group pic of the no lines !
Skip and Dogleg, nice 77 s . Another that’s on my radar .
Only have 2 no lines out of over 100 plus Camillus ,hmmmmm. G dog brought up a good point as well .Seems there are way less no lines
