Camillus #40

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Another good one Ed. A short line stamp, that would be 1946 to early 50'sand looks like brownstag handles in very good condition! ::tu::

Umm, because of the rat tail bolsters, I'm going with bone. (get out your 45X microscope and check it out for us) Brownstag® didn't make an appearance until the mid '50s. Looks to be in excellent condition for it's age.

Thanks Greg, Phil, and Jerry. I took your advice and broke out the trusty 60x microscope and Jerry you are correct....bone it is. I thank you fellas for helping me along and fueling my fire for these vintage pieces of American history. ::handshake::
