Re: "Scout Knife" Project
I was just looking at the list of other brands that Camillus made. My Hopalong Cassidy is an Imperial Prov RI. Is that one of their rebadges? I paid $10 for it about 40 years ago, Joe.
Re: "Scout Knife" Project
If that scout knife were mine I'd consider putting some rams horn handles on it. (Did I say I have a thing for RAMS HORN ?)

Philco, I have a sawmill, what kind of tree does that stuff grow on Actually, I do have some Goat Horn, but I'm still leaning toward the Black Locust, Joe.philco wrote:If that scout knife were mine I'd consider putting some rams horn handles on it. (Did I say I have a thing for RAMS HORN ?)

rarefish383 wrote:Thanks for the welcome guys. If you want to see projects, I got projects. This one is so little it jumped ahead of the others. I collect chainsaws over 100 CC's, double bit axes, pre-war Model 1899 savages, and my namesake 68 Cuda. I use rarefish383 because I have a 68 Formula S Barracuda convertible, 383, 4spd. The big block was a one year only option in the rag top A bodies and they only made 64 of them. The last time I checked the Mopar registry there were 12 left known to exist. So, it's a rare fish, Joe.
Near 'bout everything you listed there has interest among this group! .
And we love pictures !!

I haven't transferred many pics from PB to my computer yet. I guess I could change the name of this thread to "Joe's Projects". Here are a few of my axes, American Beauty, Collins, True Temper Kelly Perfect, and a couple Plumbs, Joe.

Re: "Scout Knife" Project
Well, I started this thread almost 2 years ago. Yesterday I was cleaning the garage , again, and found a block of Black Locust firewood I had set aside for the scales on the Scout Knife. Pulled the table saw out and ripped down a nice bright yellow set of scales. I plan on trying to checker them. I have a friend that builds custom gun stocks that said he will lend me the tools. But, he's a little concerned that Black Locust might not be the best material to learn how to checker on. Hopefully it won't take 2 more years to finish. I'll get the pics of the scales up after I get a couple cups of coffee in me.

No, I'm not a dedicated collector, I'm just a hoarder. I have almost everything I've ever owned. Recently i started giving stuff away. I gave a kid at a Get Together my Hopalong.
