Camillus Boy Scout knives

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I've pinged him a couple of different ways without a reply (yet) ..... I suspect the lack of content contributions and funding killed the site ..... when I learn more I will post it here. :(

I picked this one up today at a Collectibles Shop that opened up this month in the small town north of me. It is a Double line Camillus 1047 Scout Whittler. Great shape, no cracks in the handle, which is common around the bottom of the shield, blades have great snap and doesn't appear to have been put on a stone since from the factory. Blades havent been used, no wobble, with just some tiny scratches. The only thing I've done is oil the joints and wipe it down.

Great find, Smitty. There's something about a long match-strike pull that really appeals to me!

Appreciate it Dan. I agree, plus the 72 pattern is one of my favorites.

Here is a Scout Knife I picked up. You can see the knife has had a lot of use and abuse and the scales are broken and almost ready to fall off. I'm asking how much should I clean it up and should I attempt to replace the scales and attach the old shield to them. Because of the fact that I collect and never sell I'm not worried about possibly changing the value of it.

David both of the knives have good steel ,hold a edge okay. The short line handles are like that on a lot of that model ,a good knife to rehandle and use .
The 4 line is in good shape ,would oil it up and put that one away . Nice old Camillus knives you scored ::tu:: ::tu::
