Egg-zactly why I do not even bother sending sane offers to DITWit (sometimes even with a slight bump with his "charity" in mind) anymore...gsmith7158 wrote:I made ditwit an offer of $125 on that knife and got a no can do.jerryd6818 wrote:There's always the one ditwtexas has had listed forever for $279.99 OBO
Blade looks pretty full. It just needs some scrubbin' and polishin'. Get that done and she'll shine like a diamond in a goat's, uh, like a new penny.gsmith7158 wrote:Well I finally picked up one of these on the bay tonight. Looks like it needs a little TLC. We'll see what we can do with it when she arrives.
Thanks Dale ! I'll give that a try when it gets here.orvet wrote:Something I found that works well to clean that white jigged Delrin is an old toothbrush and some baking soda.
Mix a little water with the soda until it's a paste then dip the brush in the soda and scrub away on the Delrin.
It gets most of it out in short order.
An alternate solution. Drizzle a very small amount of Dawn dishwashing liquid on your toothbrush, wet the knife and scrub away. Rinse knife and chase out the water with WD-40 or blow it out with compressed air. Oil the joints. Ta Da.gsmith7158 wrote:Thanks Dale ! Jerryd I have all of those ingredients so thanks for the recipe. We'll get that thing sparkling one way or the other!jerryd6818 wrote:An alternate solution. IF both of those happens to fail, you may have some "Delrin haze" going on there. I haven't seen enough white Delrin knives to know if they are even prone to "Delrin haze" or what it looks like on white Delrin if they are. Delrin haze is simple to remedy. Scrub the knife handle with a soft rag with some machine oil on it (3-IN-ONE, etc) and wipe dry.
Absolutely!jerryd6818 wrote:Pictures when you're done, of course.
Felix I think the cream colored handles were only done for a year or two in several boy scout patterns. I'm sure Jerryd has imparted this information before but I just can't remember the years.SolWarrior wrote:Nice blades on that one, Greg. I don't remember ever seeing a 72 in that exact color. I wonder if it was originally beige throughout or if the jigging had a darker color to it. Either way, I like the beige handles. It's a classic color. Nice find!
Nope. That's the correct color. This variety of 1047 was only made 1980-1984. I wouldn't say rare but I could be coaxed into saying scarce.SolWarrior wrote:Nice blades on that one, Greg.
