camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Yes, I'll add more as I find them at good prices. I had my eye on a 72Y, but naturally someone was quicker on the draw than I could have been.

Received this one in the mail today. Very hyped about finding it. It is the Camillus 72 Limited Edition with the Ducks etch on the master clip blade. Offered in the 1991 Sears Christmas Catalog with a production of 2000. It is like new in the original box. It has the later production double line Camillus Tang Stamp with Matching Stamp on the shield and bone handles. Just opened the box, you see it as I received it. The bottom picture is of the simulated wood box along with another knife box I will post in the 72 Clones thread.

Thank you Floyd. I feel fortunate in finding it. The only others I've seen pop up have been on the bay and that feller is really proud of his asking over 3 C-notes. I lucked up on this one for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy under that mark.

You sure did. I think I know which seller you're speaking of. He seems to have some really nice knives, but they carry rather high asking prices.

Thanks Dan. Not sure who your talking about, but there are a couple on the bay that are very high. The guy I got this one from has a lot of Camillus up right now, but most except for his displays are very low opening bids. I actually got this one and the McGrew both with shipping for just under a C-note.

I fished it out of the Bay for less than 20 bucks! It’s going to be my next project. I have a set of vintage jigged dark brown bone that I’m thinking about using. I also have some manzanita that I might use. I have some ebony left over from JP’s knife as well.

Thank you Smitty JP and Dan. I've got a lot of 72's but this short line with black covers has eluded me for several years.

This one came in the mail today. No presentation box but that’s okay! I paid less than $80.00 for it! I’ve been looking for one that I can afford. ::super_happy:: I never realized how deep the etching is on these. The etch coupled with that beautiful jigged black bone really floats my boat!
