Re: camillus #72
Greg, did you get that knife? I tried to bid on it and my computer froze, wouldn't type any numbers in the bid box My question on it was the small clip opposite the master and pen. I thought that they all had a coping blade and that the small clip came later. Also, he listed it as 3 3/4" and the 72 is 3 5/8". Maybe just a mis-measure? Since it is a Sword Brand I think that it would have a different model number designation other than "72".

Re: camillus #72
I didn't bid on it Tj. If it is 1941-46 I would guess it is not a 72 pattern still a nice knife. I would have bid on it had I known the info about the tang stamps.tjmurphy wrote:Greg, did you get that knife? Good snag Joe. Have you ever wondered why the Camillus yellow Delrin handled knives go for more but the Case yellow handles don't?

Re: camillus #72
I haven't been aware of such goings on but many things get past me anymore.
I will say that the yellow Camillus knives as I have shown likely get more attention because of the Yellow Jacket name.
That gives collectors a focus for hoarding ... I mean, ... collecting.
Case had various compositions that were yellow and some better that others. That may have made folks a little gun shy.
Yellow was my dads favorite color so I like to have a few around. Plus this is a nice knife.

I have a mint 72 with yellow Delrin handles but no "Yellow Jacket" etch. Was this etch only used in certain years ?

Joe, I noticed because the plain Jane everyday Yelo-Jaket was one of the last ones I acquired (I had three that were not standard production). It took a while because they were always more than I wanted to pay. I finally yielded to the market price.

Chattanooga Coke bottling facility is supposed to be the world's first Coca Cola bottling plant. They have commissioned knives from Camillus, Case and Frost that I know of. Camillus and Case are serialized. I don't know about Frost or any others they may have had made.
There's a Sword Brand with wood handles on eBay right now. They're asking $55 for it.
