camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Mail carrier had this for me today. The plain black bone 72 from the 90s. For those who don't know, they made one in black bone that had ducks on the water scene deep etched on the main blade. Another was made for SMKW that had "Ole Smoky" etched on the main blade. The hardest one to find is just a plain #72 with black bone handles. This is my second one but I couldn't pass it up for the price. It's in factory condition.

Hi, my name's Jerry and I'm a hoarder. ::facepalm::

Sellers picture. I'll take my own tomorrow.

Yes, I think that was some kind of special edition that SMKW ran in the nineties because as Jerryd said 3 different 72's had it and I found a 709 with that jigged black bone the other day.

I don't know what you're talking about. The #14 is a 3-3/8" serpentine Jack with clip & pen.

All this detail stuff is getting to be too much for my microscopic mind. I'm leaving all those details to those who enjoy it. ::lightening::

Picked up a McGrew marked 72 that was commissioned by National Wood Carvers Association. The blade is etched 'Chip Chats (their news letter) 1953-1993, 40th Anniversary. Got it from our own Tom Cosgrove. I like 72's, I like McGrew's and I like whittling so it was a win, win, win. Thanks Tom.

Doglegg, you're liable to set Jerryd on fire with that. I don't think I've ever seen that one. :D
