Very nice Smitty.
Had to look twice to see that it was Delrin . They sure did a good job with the dying and jigging .

Thank you Floyd, I think Camillus got the colors correct on looking like bone with this mixture.
Appreciate it Randy.
Thank you JP. I agree.

Extra nice! Of the Delrin 72s, that color with the federal shield is my favorite. I carry one (more well used of course) just like it most days.Papa Bones wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 8:23 pm Well, I just couldn't pass this one up. Nothing really special about it, but I personally didn't have this particular late production long line with this brown tone of handle. Those who collect the 72, know, that once Camillus went to Delrin handles, there were several mixture variations and colors. This particular tone I like to call Caramel brown, with the federal shield. It has excellent snap on all blades, no wobble, and no abuse. No cleaning was needed. Just wiped it down, and oiled the joints.

Re: camillus #72
Just got my first 72 in today! Probably 1960s to 1970s, and has seen some use. But overall it's in pretty darn good shape, nice and sharp, with excellent snap. It's in my pocket as I type.

Re: camillus #72
This one just arrived! It’s in great shape. Still has some spots of factory lube. Handles are fantastic! At first I thought they were black. Closer examination shows that they are brown. I’m very pleased with this 72!
Re: camillus #72

Very nice goldpan. As dogleg stated, the Camillus catalogs called it Brown Staged handles. Nice find.

Re: camillus #72
Dan,nice long line 72. Now that you’ve toted it a bit what do you think , is the 72 something you see yourself using more ?
Have a good one over there .

Re: camillus #72
Nice Randy. Don’t see many like new long lines . Usually used up. Camillus did a super job on the brownstag covers .
You been busy working on your pile of 72 s . Got that little Ebony and ivory covered 72 you did for me sitting right here by the coffee cup . The 72 is one of the most useful knives for around here .
Have a great Sunday out there Randy .

Re: camillus #72
Definitely! The shape and weight give it a really good feel in the hand. I can see the coping blade coming in handy for tasks where a straight, pointy edge is needed. As I find 'em at good prices (and have the money), I'll be adding more.
An additional thought: my paternal grandfather was a carpenter. I imagine if he carried a pocket knife, it would have been a 72. So I feel a connection to him when I'm carrying this one.
Thanks to all for the kind words, and Randy's 72 is a real dandy!

Hey JP good to know that ebony is getting used. Nothing makes me happier than knowing a knife I worked on is getting used.Ripster wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 11:08 amNice Randy. Don’t see many like new long lines . Usually used up. Camillus did a super job on the brownstag covers .

Except maybe finding a 72 that I don’t have. I’m carrying this one today.
