Congratulations Floyd! That is a beautiful first generation 72.doglegg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 5:36 pm Trying to control my excitement but it is a little hard. I ran across this no line tang stamp 72 on ebay. I checked with the master and Jerry said yes he had heard of such but could not remember the particulars. I made the man an offer and he accepted. So my latest fix for the 72 addiction. It was really stiff when I received it but a little gun oil loosened it up.

I've seen that stamp on some 33's and 99's but not on a 72. That's a great find.

Floyd, your latest "72" tang stamp, pictured below, isn't listed at all on the Camillus tang stamp page.doglegg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 5:36 pm Trying to control my excitement but it is a little hard. Re: camillus #72
That's what buffaloed me when I first saw it. I consulted with Jerry to make sure it wasn't some cobbled knife. He said that he had seen the stamp only a few times then Gregg said he had seen it only on 33 and 99 model Camillus knives but extremely rarely. One of those Camillus mysteries I guess. I feel fortunate to have found it. Thanks.

This newly acquired, Camillus 72 "short line" pocket knife, will soon be joining my collection. When I receive it, I'll see if it needs any cleaning, take some pictures and post them in the appropriate location(s). This is the knife.

Re: camillus #72
Tommy, you never get me confused, I get confused on my own. But I did get a couple off the bay recently, first a rehandled long line 72. No snap in the blades so it is destined to my whittling knife box.
.Re: camillus #72
And next a pre 72 Camillus split spring whittler. I thought I would never find one of these. It is in rough condition. Abused, used and broken but still suits me. I believe it has the 4 line tang stamp. Made an offer and was able to get it. I am thrilled! Would still like to find one in better shape but until then....

......the odds of it being his are a million to one!!....I do remember one blade was broken and the other 2 were well used!!.....he told me once if he ever saw me with anything but a CAMILLUS,or driving anything but a FORD, he would kick the dirt off his grave and come after me!!!............. ........................
