Colonel, I'll tell you what... I have had a tough time bidding on the Flea Bay... I make a bid and next thing you know... Bam! I see a notice "Outbid" and you are 100% right there is a lot of worn out, broken down nags there. Worse, is that I came down with a bad case of "Short-Line Fever" awhile back and the only cure seems to be finding more Short-Lines which seem to be few and far betweenColonel26 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 1:48 am You boys must have snatched up all the remaining good 72’s. I need to get my priorities right and spend more time on line looking at knives!

Re: camillus #72
I was bombed by Reverend today with this 72. This one I’m not sure about. I think it was made by Camillus. It has a McGrew shield. Obvious Camillus delrin handles and sports a Western USA tang stamp. The pile side is marked stainless W742. I believe the Western 742 is a stockman. What I think happened was that Camillus was in a hurry to make knives towards end and assembled the knife with whatever parts they had on hand. Anyone have any ideas?
Re: camillus #72
Wow! Now that’s an interesting knife for sure. I’m shocked that a Weatern 742 clip blade, which is from a 4” stockman, fits into that package. Hmmm. I dare say you have a one of a kind!
It sure does look nice though.

Very nice bomb package. As to the knife, you maybe correct that it’s a end of days knife for Camillus. It does make a interesting conversation piece.#goldpan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 4:21 am I was bombed by Reverend today with this 72. This one I’m not sure about. I think it was made by Camillus. Re: camillus #72
That's a good possibility JP. I have a few "end of days" Camillus knives and it's interesting to see what they made for who.

Re: camillus #72
I have some others but this one caught my eye. It was listed over on Facebook Camillus Knife Collectors. I contacted the seller and we came to a price and it lives at my house now. 2nd generation short line with bone handles in what I think is pretty good shape. Thanks for looking.

That's a good one, Dlegg! I still haven't found a bone 72 that meets my money for condition ratio. They are either way too much money, or look like a truck ran over them. I'll find one eventually. Luckily I like the black handles they put on them. That one you just got has just the right patina. Enjoy it!doglegg wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 2:35 pm I have some others but this one caught my eye.
