.......daddynewton, I have a pair of very old scissors I got for the wife years ago, very ornate, nickle silver,on one side is a stamp which reads- kastor & co., Germany(Camillus founder), on the oppositre side they are stamped w. h. morley & sons........so maybe there is a connection between Camillus/kastor and morley???.............. .........................daddynewton wrote:I'm the one off topic Carmillus. Probably the Morleys don't go here. Here is a Dunlap 1920- 1930s to get back on topic.

Re: The Other Brands
Picked up this Fairmount, normally I don't buy celluloid knives but this one was in such good shape and the celluloid so pretty I went ahead. From what I understand Fairmount was a Camillus brand before WW2.
Re: The Other Brands
Beautiful old Fairmount.
Re: The Other Brands

Heck yeh!!! That's a Grrrrr8 one too. What time frame would you put on the camp knife? It looks old but the "Craftsman" etch looks pretty modern.

TJ, I am told from a knowledgeable collector, that it is 1920's, to mid 1930's.tjmurphy wrote: What time frame would you put on the camp knife? It looks old but the "Craftsman" etch looks pretty modern.

Re: The Other Brands
WOW! I just came across this list of makers and I think it comprises about half of the knives I own. Never realized they were associated with so many companies. I think I'll do a post of one knife from each of them.May take awhile though.

Ray I think the shorter list would be who did Camillus not make knives for!knife7knut wrote:WOW! I just came across this list of makers and I think it comprises about half of the knives I own. Here's a little Camco sheath knife I got the other day.
It's in decent shape. The sheath could use a little care.

Re: The Other Brands
Thank you, Greg.
As I said, It's in decent shape but it really isn't much of a knife. The guard is aluminum and it weighs next to nothing.
I wouldn't want to have to rely on it too much.

I discover McGrew a small Ark knife company had Callimus as a supplier for their pocket knifes.

Re: The Other Brands
McGrew was a pawn shop that had their own brand made by Camillus (for one. May have been others too.)

Here is an old Gamble Stores stockman, made by Camillus between 1940 and 1950, I believe. I am in the process of repairing this knife (you can see the broken punch), and took these photos before I disassembled it.

Re: The Other Brands
Others have already shown their Camco knives, but I thought this little 3” Jack is pretty. I did not get all of the pitting off of the blades, but hand-sanded as much as I could.
I had planned on giving it to my brother for his birthday tomorrow (after a warning about the celluloid handles), but I have the flu now and don’t want to pass that along, too.

Re: The Other Brands
Just picked up 4, new in the box McGrew Knife Company 3 blades manufactured by Camillus as part of a huge estate purchase. These are the Camillus 72 style. I understand they're not worth a lot, but thought I'd share with other Camillus collectors.
